Heat pumps are segmented into air source and ground source types and further
subdivided by their kilowatt (kW) output (e.g., 4-6kW, 7-9kW, 10-12kW for air
source models). Only the quietest models within each sub-category are awarded
Quiet Mark certification.
Quiet Mark’s policy is to encourage manufacturers towards quieter product design
through positive recognition, rather than publicly identifying models that do not
meet our standards. We find that highlighting and certifying the quietest options
effectively motivates manufacturers to prioritise noise reduction during research
and development.
